FRANCE TELECOM

France Telecom leads researches on the implementation of MPEG-4 solutions prototypes for its commercial subsidiaries. Resonate MP4 has been asked for some external developments of components:

  • MPEG-4 Systems elementary streams decoders (BIFS and OD) for a full MPEG-4 compliant player built on Win32 and WinCE platforms,
  • A Local DMIF Stack for a full MPEG-4 compliant player so that MP4, 3GP and newly AVC file formats can be locally accessed and played,
  • An MP4 File Library with C++ API for streaming servers and authoring tools.
Resonate MP4 provided France Telecom with an intensive support about the MP4 format used for streaming over IP scenario so that the France Telecom streaming server could be labeled a "ISMA Reference Server". This label is given after success of interoperability tests.
  • IPMP (Intellectual Property Management and Protection) components integrated in a DRM (Data Right Management) architecture for reading/writing the signaling of the protection schemes applied on MPEG-4 content.

EMI MUSIC

EMI Music, as a media producer, needs to anticipate how MPEG-4 based services could bring the next revolutions in the music related content delivery after MP3 (MPEG-1 Layer 3).
The hundreds of thousands of protected MPEG-4 songs available for downloading from the Apple's iTunes Music Store are just the first example: the most popular music downloading site today with Data Rights Managements (DRM) did not choose MP3 as digital format, but MP4 with encrypted MPEG-4 AAC audio track. iPod, the leader of digital music players, plays MPEG-4AAC audio format.

Resonate MP4 leads missions toward the EMI Music French subsidiary by developping prototypes of MPEG-4 based services or final product:

  • Final product: musical DVD with MPEG-4 based technologies for playing video clips on mobile terminals. A first DVD, titled "Kill Your Television !", has been released on the French market in June 2003 with the Labels division of EMI Music. For more information about this DVD, please click here !
  • Prototypes of 3G services: Resonate MP4 produces and benchmarks MPEG-4 video clips of EMI Music artists for an experimental 3G mobile service of video streaming on UMTS network. Orange and Alcatel conduct this experiment in real situation.
Resonate MP4 makes propositions of 3G interactive services for music downloading and streaming services by using a new technology influenced by MPEG-4 Systems.
  • Consulting: EMI Music France consulted Resonate MP4 for enhancing its undestanding of watermarking systems for tracking the delivery of promotional content and for evaluating the potential of peer-to-peer networks related technics.
Resonate MP4 is also consulted for training product managers to the new technologies usages.

ENVIVIO
Envivio is one of the leaders in the development and supplies of MPEG-4 software solutions. Resonate MP4 is asked for some external developments.

DALET DIGITAL MEDIA SYSTEMS
Dalet Digital Media Systems develops software solutions that falciltate the management of audio and video assets for broadcast, entertainment, government, education, corporations and non-profit organizations.

Dalet announced in January 2004 a development partnership with Resonate MP4. The resulting development effort will enable the DaletPlus solution to support the MPEG-4 format. Dalet chose Resonate MP4 as a partner because of its proven exepertise with MPEG-4 standard.

Press release available from Dalet web site: DaletPlus Leverages Benefits of MPEG-4 Through Resonate MP4

INTERTRUST TECHNOLOGIES
InterTrust Technologies develops and licenses intellectual property for DRM (Digital Rights Management) systems and trusted computing. In the course of the development of InterTrust’s MPEG-4 compliant Intellectual Property Management and Protection system, ResonateMP4 worked on the integration of the IPMP framework on the server side.

ODEON THEATER
The Odeon Theater is one of the five national theaters in France. Its Sound Service developped for the last five years a platform to automatically manage the sound rendering on stage from a dedicated software. The sound manager of the theater piece builds playlists from hundreds of sound sources, and interact with them in real time during the show. The software, called "Séquenceur Histoires" has been developped by using the Max/MSP environment, firstly created at IRCAM and supported now by the Cycling 74 company. Max/MSP is a graphical environment for music, audio, and multimedia. It is in use worldwide for over fifteen years by performers, composers, artists, teachers, and students.

Resonate MP4 has been consulted to develop in C/C++ new modules of functionalities not present by defalut in Max/MSP. These plug-in modules are called "externals" in the Max/MSP terminolgy.

EDF (Electricité De France)
A division of EDF working on the usage of multimedia for the corporate communication on Intranet ordered with Resonate MP4 a consulting mission to clarify its view of the next coming market of MPEG-4 solutions.

ARTSUM
Artsum is focused on the development of MPEG-2 audiovisual software for TV broadcasters. It has been asked for MPEG-4 developments by some of its clients. It called ResonateMP4 for acquiring a precise MPEG-4 knowledge in a limited short time.

UPPER SIDE
Upper Side has been organizing for few years conferences in France that deliver frontline coverage of the major developments of techniques deicated to Internet (QoS, MPLS, IP Secure, SIP ...). Resonate MP4 provides Upper Side with a  support to the organization of MPEG-4 related events (conferences and training).

The MPEG-4 conference from 23 to 26 April 2002 in Paris is the result of the Upper Side/Resonate MP4 collaboration: MPEG-4, the broadband content delivery standard.
