Musical DVD that takes advantage of MPEG-4 related technologies

Launched by Resonate MP4 and the Labels division of EMI Music France, this new DVD-based product is the result of the observation of three upcoming strong tendencies in the music industry:
  • Convergence in digital media devices: audiovisual content delivered on compact discs has to play on a wide spectrum of devices (i.e. DVD Players, Personal Computers, Personal Digital Assistants and Mobile Phones).
  • Wi-Fi Home Media Network: home consumer electronics manufacturers integrate wireless connections in their products so that content can be shared on devices different from the personal computer it is usually stored on.
  • Replacement of the audio CD by new digital formats.
The user can play more than 3 hours of 47 musical video clips and enjoy the high quality on his home DVD player, as well as on his laptop or his personal digital assistant (PDA).

The content is playable in many contexts because of its compliancy with the strongest standards for the latest generation of digital devices : DVD-Video & MPEG-2 for several Mbps and MPEG-4 for less than one Mbps.

WiFi MP4 Cast : an open platform for streaming audio and video over WLAN*
(*Wifi Local Area Network)

The wireless fidelity, better known as Wi-Fi, is the standardized technology that allows mobile terminals (i.e. laptops, notebooks, personal digital assistants, 3G phones, digital songs players and all the future nomad devices) to connect to the Internet and local networks at airports, coffee shops, museums, bookstores, office parks, hotels, business centers and all the public sites equipped with Wi-Fi infrastructures.

Wi-Fi MP4 Cast is an optimized software product for these public Wi-Fi infrastructures, better known as Wi-Fi Hotspots, to open locally audio and video services. Resonate MP4 provides public sites owners and WiFi Services Providers (WISP) with an MPEG-4 based solution to stream audio and video content over WiFi Hotspots infrastructures.

Built from the understanding of the market’s needs and expectations, Wi-Fi MP4 Caster is the answer for a wide variety of needs:

  • Watching touristic movies at your hotel,
  • Watching keynotes and presentations you missed in a conference center,
  • Watching TV programs or short movies about your destination when waiting for a flight at the airport,
  • Watching music video clips in a coffee shop on available PDAs,
  • Pre-listening music and pre-watching movie trailers in a records and DVD store,
  • Watching a video guide in a museum,
  • etc ...
